It’s time to come home. Home to yourself—your authentic self.
You don’t have to stay stuck in the past or remain overwhelmed by emotional pain and stress. You don’t have to struggle to become who you’re truly meant to be.
That something that you feel is missing from your life—it’s your connection to yourself.
What you need is someone to help you reconnect with that still small voice within you. It’s always speaking to you, but our noisy world and inner chatter drowns it out.
The fact that you’re here tells me your Inner voice is guiding you to make a change. It’s time for something new. A new way of being.
Follow that inner pull, that nudge to begin a journey of self-discovery. Take a leap of faith into unknown territory…and be amazed by what you find.
It would be my honor to guide you through this process.
I’m Marilyn Kortendick, the founder and owner of The Body/Mind/Soul Connection.
I believe that deep down we already have the answers to our dilemmas, questions and ponderings. Instead of turning outward for direction, we must turn inward for the guidance we seek.
I believe we each have our own unique connection to a Higher Power.
I believe that by being open to this connection and Source we can become more of who we are truly meant to be—authentic, empowered souls living the peaceful and meaningful lives we desire.
As far back as I can remember I have felt a close, peace-filled spiritual connection to horses. They have always appeared to me to have an inner knowing and understanding of us, the human species.
At the age of 10, I started my lifelong adventure of meeting and riding horses. In my early teens I embarked on riding and showing competitively in the English discipline.
As life moved on, my time spent with horses diminished as my focus switched to family. During that time, I felt a deep calling to pursue my connection with spirituality…which led me to earn a bachelor’s degree in pastoral/theological work and a certificate and master’s degree in Spiritual Direction.
Eventually, I was blessed to become the proud owner of my small herd of horses. A dream I thought was truly impossible had actually come true.
In 2011, I began my studies in an internationally recognized program known as Eponaquest.
Through it I learned how horses—the sentient beings that they are—guide us in learning much about our authentic selves through working with our emotions and intentions.
While in this program, I encountered parts of myself that needed attention, learning edges I needed to delve into and explore. By working both with the horses and honoring my spiritual connection to Source, I came to know more clearly who I authentically am. It has empowered me to live my life more congruently, with a definite feeling of peace and wholeness.
Now, through The Body/Mind/Soul Connection, I am able to pass along what I’ve learned to you. I can teach you how to tap into your body, mind, and soul’s true wisdom.
I invite you to explore how we can work together. It would be my pleasure to play a part in your journey of self-discovery.

An Interview With Marilyn…
Q.: How long have you been a Spiritual Director and an Equine Facilitated Experiential Learner (EFEL) Instructor?
A.: I have been offering spiritual direction services since 2005, and I became an approved EFEL Instructor in April of 2013. This will be my 4th summer offering a combination of these services.
Q.: Who are your clients?
A.: I meet with both men and women in spiritual direction. The age range is from early 30’s to late 70’s. People who come to me for this service are looking to find a closer connection to God working in their lives, an inner peace amongst possibly some conflicts going on in their lives, and looking for ways to find answers to important questions by going within. They learn, if they don’t already know, that all their answers are within.
The only difference between these clients and those that do the horse work is most are females, and the age range is from the 20’s up into the 70’s. These clients are spiritual and want to learn how to listen for those answers within, as well. Many have told me they’ve always felt a deeper connection to horses. They know there’s something special, something spiritual about being around them.
Q.: What kind of personalities do you NOT work with?
A.: I don’t work with people who expect me to give them their answers. I offer tools to guide them into learning how to listen to their inner wisdom which will assist them in finding their own answers. They must do the work. Whatever they put into it, is what they will receive back. I also don’t work with people who don’t believe in listening to their body/feelings/emotions and Inner Wisdom/God or Source for guidance and direction. Some might call this ‘woo–woo’, but this work goes so much deeper than that. It touches on the essence of who we are, how important we are, and who we truly are and should be authentically. It gives people a freedom to be who they are without apology, and let go of past false thinking patterns.
Q.: How do you work? What can I expect?
A.: In spiritual direction, the minimum amount of time I will work with someone is 6 sessions. This is usually either once a month for 6 months, or twice a month for three months. Each session runs an hour long. A more average amount of time I work with a directee is anywhere from one to two years. This is a very slow and gradual process and takes time for things to be uncovered or discovered, and possibly changed or embraced, all depends on each directee’s personal situation.
After working with me, a client can expect to leave knowing how to have a deeper connection to Source, their Inner Guidance, and how to tap into that area for answers. They will also leave feeling more grounded, at peace, and feeling safe to be the more authentic person they really are. If participating in the Horse Work, the client can also expect to leave with similar results, but often times, the horses can open up different areas of discovery, and the person can have an entirely different experience. Not everyone will easily grasp the full purpose and effects of all this work. It takes time; and that is okay.
Much of this personal and spiritual development work is based on feelings and emotions by going into the body to listen and getting out of the head. Being open to this is the real key!
The Horse work can be added on to spiritual direction sessions after a minimum of 3 sessions. Otherwise, I periodically offer packages for separate Horse Work, and sometimes full-day clinics.
Q.: Why do I need you? Can’t I just do this on my own?
A.: I have always felt that you can’t teach anything unless you have experienced it yourself. I see my own spiritual director and meet with a Peer Group on a monthly basis for my own growth and learning. I work with my horses on a regular basis for my own personal growth, and I had to learn much of the EFEL work through not only my apprenticeship training, but by just being around the horses on a daily basis. This helped me to see them in a very different way than most people do. It would be very difficult for someone to do the work, if they’re not sure what they are ‘suppose’ to do, or how to start. I feel it takes someone trained in and experienced in this work to be able to offer it to another.
Q.: How can I get the very best results fast?
A.: Well, first of all, everything takes time. This is a process. This is not an overnight quick-fix. Whatever concern or issue the client brings or surfaces during the work has evolved over time. It isn’t something that will change or disappear instantly. The best results will happen over time and as the directee/client puts the work and effort into focusing on themselves in a continuous and gently loving manner. Anything worth doing, takes time and effort. It is a process and a journey…
Q.: Can I contact other clients you’ve worked with?
A.: Of course you can! You can also refer to my web-site in the testimonial sections if you would like to read what past clients have said about me and this work.
Q.: If I’m not quite ready to get started, is there a way to sample your work?
A.: Hmmm. That’s a tough one, since this work is tailored specifically to each client and their needs, it would be difficult to sample the work beforehand. I can suggest taking a look at my fairly new blog on the website www.thebodymindsoulconnection.com which may give you some idea of what I do. Also, if you sign up for my free offer on the site, that will tell you a little more about the work as well.
Q.: I have a few more questions for you. Can I talk with you on the phone?
A.: By all means! I would be more than happy to have a “Get-Acquainted Call” at no fee. We can then discuss any personal questions, concerns, etc. you may have, or anything else you would like to know about me and my services. We can also see if this type of work is what you are really looking for and a good fit. I can send you more information about the work and the packages I offer.
You can reach me a couple of different ways. Either fill out the Contact Me form on the web-site www.thebodymindsoulconnection.com with possible dates and times that would work for you. This will automatically send me an email and I’ll get back to you within 24 hours on weekdays. Or, email me direct at Info@thebodymindsoulconnection.com with your information. We can then set up a date and time that will work for both of us.
I hope this answered all of your questions. I look forward to meeting and possibly working with you in the near future.
Q: Yes, it did. Thank you!
A.: You are very welcome!
